Yesterday morning, we traded the usual routine for a short hike together. It wasn’t a big expedition—just a 1.3-mile loop with enough gentle climbing to keep us moving.

We took it at family pace, which is one of the nicest ways to walk: less attention to speed, more time to notice what’s around us. The pauses are part of the outing rather than something to hurry through.
By the time we returned to our starting point, we’d had a little movement, a little fresh air, and an unhurried hour together. Nothing epic. Exactly enough.
