This morning, I set out on foot and let Washington unfold at walking speed.
The route covered 7.3 miles—just under 12 kilometers—and took me from the west side of the city eastward through downtown. It was a good reminder that D.C. is especially rewarding on foot: a city of long sightlines, changing neighborhoods, and small details that disappear when you move through it too quickly.

I wasn’t chasing a destination so much as making room for the walk itself. A few hours outside, a little bit of distance, and the satisfying feeling of arriving somewhere under my own power.
Nothing epic. Just a full morning and a good stretch of the city.
